 “What Does the Canada‐U.S. Beyond the Border Action Plan Mean
for Security and Economic Prosperity?”

Prime Minister Harper and President Obama agreed last February on a new initiative aimed at developing a shared vision for perimeter security and economic competitiveness. Following several months of consultations and preparation by groups of officials in both capitals, the two leaders announced a detailed action plan on December 7th, setting out specific goals and objectives to be met over the next five years.

David Heyman and Paul MacKinnon are two of the principals charged with implementing the “Beyond the Border” action plan. They will use this opportunity to explain their current priorities and work program.  Discussion, based on Chatham House rules, will follow their presentation.
