We live in a world where information is abundant, but knowledge and understanding are rare. It is a world which is culturally rich, but not always tuned in to the implications of our cultural diversity. A world where talent must be nurtured and contribute to both domestic priorities and policy and to the global challenges in which we play an important role.
As Americans and Canadians, we enjoy a free society and we share important values. Our relationship as allies and neighbours is enriched by our mutual commitment to invest in our relationship, and to work together to help shape a more rational and civilized world.
Fulbright Canada (The Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America) plays a critical role in that partnership. As a world-leading model for successful educational exchange, we focus our attention on a clear purpose ... to nurture the power of human knowledge that lies within our most promising scholars, and to help direct that knowledge to nurture and support leaders who can contribute directly to solving the most pressing issues and questions of our time.
Fulbright Canada was established in 1990 as an integral part of the worldwide Fulbright Program. Led by the commitment and the vision of the two governments, and supported by investments made by universities and by key private sector partners, Fulbright Canada annually offers some $2 million dollars in scholarships, fellowships, and activities that support the most promising academic minds in our two countries.
Having just completed its 20th year, Fulbright Canada is at a transformative moment. The Board of Directors has established an ambitious new plan for growth, where Fulbright Canada is reaching out to the business community, and to individuals, to complement the ongoing commitment of governments, in an effort to attract significant new private sector investment and double the number of awards that we offer.
You can help by working with us on a specific project or joining us as one of our core programs, or simply by making a gift to the Foundation. The opportunity exists to encourage our grantees in their attempt to engage with their local communities and strengthen the Canada - U.S relationship. We are a registered charitable organization (CRA registration 12946 2693 RR0010) and a 501(c)(3) organization.
