On September 4, 2025, Fulbright Canada proudly celebrated its 35th anniversary with a special dinner at the historic Rideau Club in Ottawa. This milestone event brought together Fulbright scholars, alumni, government representatives, and friends of the program for an evening of reflection, connection, and celebration.

Guests heard remarks from Dr. Michael Hawes, President and CEO of Fulbright Canada, as well as from senior officials from both the Government of Canada and the U.S. Embassy, alongside inspiring words from Fulbright alumni. Together, these voices highlighted the profound impact of the Fulbright program in fostering academic excellence, mutual understanding, and cross-border collaboration.

For more than three decades, Fulbright Canada has served as a cornerstone of educational and cultural exchange between Canada and the United States. Since its founding in 1990, the program has:

  • Supported more than 2,000 scholars and students in pursuing study, research, and teaching opportunities across borders.
  • Created lasting partnerships between Canadian and American universities, governments, and communities.
  • Empowered generations of alumni who continue to contribute as leaders, innovators, and change-makers in their fields.

As we marked this anniversary, we not only celebrated our history but also looked ahead to the future—building on a legacy of excellence and expanding opportunities for the next generation of Fulbright scholars.
