On September 3, Fulbright Canada launched the Energy Security & Sustainability Initiative (ESSI) and expert panel at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Lead Scholar, Dr. Monica Gattinger of the University of Ottawa brought a governance, investment and public-confidence perspective. Dr. Robert Johnston of the University of Calgary examined geopolitics, global energy markets and energy security. Dr. Stephen Bird of the University of New Hampshire explored technology, AI, growing electricity demand and the energy transition.
Together, they considered questions beneath today’s energy headlines:
How can confidence be built around energy decisions?
How are changing trade relationships and geopolitics affecting energy security?
And what could AI and data centres mean for electricity systems and communities?
