After two decades as a global journalist and news anchor, Yusuf Baykal Bozkurt has made an extraordinary pivot from broadcast studios to the bleeding edge of behavioural AI. Now, as a Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Initiative grantee, Bozkurt is redefining how people form the most crucial relationships in the startup world: founding teams and investor partnerships.
Bozkurt founded Beonbrand Inc., a Toronto-based hybrid AI lab and creative agency that develops emotionally intelligent, AI-powered tools for education and business. His early projects focused on personalized child development systems, blending Finland’s educational principles with advanced sentiment analysis to support adaptive, emotionally-aware learning experiences. While building these tools, he encountered a different challenge: finding the right co-founder.
What emerged was PairBright, a behavioural matchmaking platform designed to address one of the most common causes of startup failure: co-founder misalignment. By analyzing over 20 dimensions of compatibility, including personality traits, work styles, and long-term vision, PairBright helps founders identify partners, team members, and investors with whom they can build meaningful, high-functioning relationships.
“Building a company is like a marriage,” Bozkurt says. “It’s not just about resumes, it’s about shared values, complementary skills, and mutual understanding.” Through gamified onboarding and scenario-based interviews, PairBright uses AI to analyze conscious and subconscious behavioural cues. The result is a platform that removes much of the guesswork from team formation, investor matching, and even market fit alignment.
Beyond improving founder chemistry, Bozkurt envisions PairBright as a full-spectrum startup intelligence platform. Investors can access real-time dashboards that offer predictive insights into team dynamics, product progress, and risk metrics. For founders, the platform serves as a hub for finding co-founders, mentors, funding opportunities, and curated resources tailored to their specific growth stage and goals.
PairBright operates on a “freemium” model, offering no-cost access for founders and a subscription-based tier for investors, who gain access to a highly curated, data-rich talent ecosystem. With integrations on the horizon, including LinkedIn-based network analysis and AI-generated startup ideas, Bozkurt is positioning PairBright as a foundational tool for the next generation of builders.
His journey has been anything but linear. Arriving in Canada with limited English, Bozkurt quickly rose through the ranks of one of the country’s top education institutions, leading digital content strategy that contributed to a billion-dollar acquisition. That same storytelling instinct now powers his product design: every PairBright feature is thoughtfully crafted to reflect real-world founder pain points.
Supported by the Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Initiative, in partnership with Alacrity Canada, Bozkurt is part of a cohort of entrepreneurs shaping the future through bold, scalable innovation. Alacrity’s demand-driven innovation model and mentorship support are key in helping ventures like PairBright align with real market needs, transforming vision into validated solutions.
As AI continues to influence how we build, learn, and connect, Yusuf Bozkurt is determined to ensure that the technology remains human at its core.
