Windsor, ON - Fulbright Canada and the University of Windsor are pleased to announce the renewal of their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), strengthening a long-standing partnership dedicated to fostering academic excellence, collaboration, and cross-border exchange between Canada and the United States.

Through this strategically important agreement, Fulbright Canada and the University of Windsor reaffirm their shared commitment to providing students, researchers, and faculty with opportunities to engage in transformative experiences that advance knowledge, promote dialogue, and address pressing global challenges.

Since 1993, the partnership has supported a total of 18 Fulbrighters, with 8 scholars from the University of Windsor pursuing study and research in the United States, and 10 American Fulbrighters coming to Windsor to contribute to its vibrant academic community. Current opportunities include the Fulbright Canada Postdoctoral Research Award in Black History and four Fulbright Canada Research Chairs in Automobility and Cybersecurity Innovations, Business and Management, Law, Justice, and Transnationalism, and Sustainable Resources and Environmental Human Health.

"The Fulbright experience has been extraordinary as it allowed me to expand and diversify my research in highly impactful applications through collaborative research and partnership," said Dr. Jalal Ahamed, Fulbright Scholar and Associate Professor at the University of Windsor, who pursued research at Florida Polytechnic University.

“This strategically important partnership underscores our commitment to research, innovation, and international collaboration, and we are proud to foster deeper engagement opportunities for our students and faculty to work with leading institutions in the United States,” said Dr. Shanthi Johnson, Vice-President, Research and Innovation, University of Windsor.

“Our partnership with the University of Windsor is a testament to the university’s commitment to
world-class collaborative research and our commitment at Fulbright Canada to work with
universities in both countries to build bridges, support meaningful and impactful research, and
create opportunities for tomorrow's leaders," said Dr. Michael K. Hawes, CEO and President of Fulbright Canada.

This renewed agreement continues to support areas of research strength at the University of Windsor, including automotive innovation, cybersecurity, sustainability, law and justice, and business and management. Together, Fulbright Canada and the University of Windsor are creating opportunities that foster international understanding and advance solutions to challenges on both sides of the border.
