Mutual Enrichment for Fulbright Canada Scholars and the University of Ottawa Community

On April 4, 2017, Fulbright Canada Research Chairs, Dr. Korina Jocson, and Dr. Dee M. Williams attended an event hosted by the University of Ottawa and shared details about their research and experiences as Fulbright Canada Research Chairs.  Jacques Frémont, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa, and Fulbright Canada CEO, Dr. Michael Hawes, also attended and spoke about the ability of the chair program to enrich the researchers, the university community, and more broadly, help to foster cross-cultural idea exchange and collaboration.

A Fulbright Alumni Connection to the Google.org Impact Challenge

The Google.org Impact Challenge has announced 10 Canadian non-profits that will share $5 million in funding for innovative use of technology. We’re excited to announce that there’s a Fulbright connection! The Arctic Eider Society has been selected as a finalist for their SIKU project, which evolved from a prototype that was created during Dr. Joel Heath's Fulbright Canada Visiting Chair in Arctic Studies at the University of Washington from 2014-15.

Fulbright Alumnus, Philip Glass, receives the prestigious Glenn Gould Prize

The Glenn Gould Foundation presented the 11th biennial Glenn Gould Prize to composer Philip Glass at a memorable ceremony and concert on November 26, 2016, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Several members of the Fulbright community were present, celebrating his contribution to the arts and this incredible honour at an intimate reception prior to the ceremony, which was hosted at Lornado, the official residence of the United States Ambassador to Canada.

Washington, D.C. – Fulbright Arctic Week , October 24-28, 2016, marks the third and final meeting of the 2015-2016 Fulbright Arctic Initiative cohort. The week provides the Fulbright Arctic Initiative scholars with an opportunity to share research findings and recommendations with each other, the public, and the broader policy network in Washington so as to help move their leading Arctic research from theory to practice.

The inaugural meeting of the North American Climate Policy Forum was held on June 22-23, 2016 at the University of Ottawa. The Forum involves a partnership between the University of Ottawa’s Institute of the Environment, Sustainable Prosperity, the Duke University Energy Initiative, and the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke.

Gardeners are looking forward to the future

Marking its second growing season in Estevan, the community garden hosted a partnership announcement on Monday. The message was growth.

The event launched the partnership between the local gardeners and the University of Regina. It’s a partnership that’s part of the Fulbright Canada-RBC Eco-Leadership Program, and through that program, the community garden has received $4,000 in grant funding.

Press Release - Fulbright Canada Visiting Research Chair Program established at UH Manoa

The University of Hawai`i at Manoa, in partnership with Fulbright Canada, has announced the establishment of the state’s first Fulbright Canada Visiting Research Chair. To be housed in the College of Social Sciences (CSS) under a five-year arrangement beginning Fall 2016, the program will support regional cooperation on issues including energy and the environment, Asia-Pacific engagement, indigenous issues, ICT, health disparities, policy and migration.
