OTTAWA, ON — Fulbright Canada is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2025-2026 Mitacs Globalink Research Internship Program. Applications for this distinguished opportunity for U.S. undergraduate students to engage in advanced, faculty-supervised research at universities across Canada will be accepted from August 7 through September 17, 2025.
Through this competitive program, exceptional undergraduate students from accredited U.S. institutions are invited to spend 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2026 conducting research in a wide range of academic fields, including the sciences, engineering, social sciences, the humanities, and more. Participants are matched with Canadian faculty based on shared research interests and benefit from immersive academic mentorship, professional development training, and financial support.
Since its inception in 2020, the Fulbright Canada – Mitacs Globalink partnership has supported 238 research internships, strengthening academic ties between Canada and the United States and contributing to a vibrant community of emerging scholars and researchers.
“The experiences I have gained in this internship will move me forward on my path to becoming a professor and researcher in bilingual language acquisition in North America. Fulbright Canada has allowed me to immerse myself in both the research world and the culture (local and international) of Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was an invaluable experience.”
- Sylvia Techmanski, 2024 Mitacs Intern
(University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; hosted at Dalhousie University)
The program offers more than just research experience—it provides a platform for intellectual curiosity, cross-cultural exchange, and meaningful engagement with the Canadian academic landscape.
“The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship represents Fulbright Canada’s deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of scholars, innovators, and academic leaders. This program invites students to step beyond their home institutions, to engage in collaborative inquiry, and to cultivate the knowledge and relationships that will shape their future pursuits. It is an investment not only in education but also in international understanding and the advancement of shared discovery.”
