OTTAWA, February 2026 – Fulbright Canada is pleased to announce the launch of the 2027–2028 U.S. Scholars Program, inviting distinguished American academics, researchers, and professionals to apply for prestigious awards that support collaborative research and lecturing opportunities at leading Canadian institutions. This year’s competition underscores Fulbright Canada’s enduring commitment to advancing academic excellence and strengthening U.S.–Canada relations through intellectual exchange.
The U.S. Scholars Program is a core component of the binational Fulbright exchange, offering a range of awards that enable accomplished scholars to immerse themselves in Canadian academic life, build meaningful partnerships with Canadian colleagues, and contribute to research that addresses shared global challenges.
Program Highlights
Award opportunities include Traditional Scholar Awards, Research Chair Awards, Distinguished Research Chairs, Postdoctoral Research Awards, and Entrepreneurship-focused awards. Each is designed to support work in a wide range of disciplines. These residential exchange grants provide financial support and access to Canada’s vibrant research environments, from major research universities to innovative think tanks and cultural institutions.
Recipients will conduct independent or collaborative research, engage with students, and contribute to the rich intellectual fabric of their host institutions. Whether advancing public policy, exploring technological frontiers, or deepening cross-cultural understanding, U.S. Scholars play a pivotal role in fostering deeper bilateral engagement.
