The Killam Fellowships Program Spring Seminar

  • April 19, 2018
  • Washington, D.C.

From Thursday April 19th to Saturday April 21st, Fulbright Canada will be bringing together the 2017-2018 cohort of Killam (undergraduate) Fellows for a seminar in Washington D.C.

The Killam Fellowships Program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from universities in Canada and the United States to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in the other country. The Spring Seminar represents an opportunity for this year’s cohort to come together near the end of their fellowship, to share their experiences, and to connect through discussion.

This year, the Spring Seminar has a thematic focus on communication and journalism, with a particular emphasis on digital media. It will include activities and presentations aimed at engaging Killam Fellows in discussions about the changing media landscape and its role in current affairs.

Activities include:
- A visit to the Dracopoulos iDeas Lab at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS),
- a visit to the Newseum; and,
- a Q&A session with the Head of Media Relations at the Embassy of Canada to the United States.

A dinner will take place on Friday night, featuring remarks by Anthony Keller, Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Canada-U.S. Relations at the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars and Editorial Page Editor at the Globe and Mail.
