We are pleased to present our next speaker series event set to take place on June 23 at 5:30 PM (EDT). The featured speaker is Dr. Deborah Saucier, President, and Vice-Chancellor of Vancouver Island University. Dr. Deborah Saucier is an “experienced administrator, accomplished neuroscientist, and devoted educator.  [She] is deeply committed to student success, Indigenous education, reconciliation, and community engagement.”

Dr. Deborah Saucier plans to speak to the importance of post-secondary education in creating economic and social equality, particularly during this time of disruption.  She will look at why we need to change our approach in post-secondary education to ensure it is more inclusive of everyone and to offer examples and ideas on how to accomplish this. A Q&A session will follow.

“We know that educational attainment is a key determinant of economic success. Therefore, we must ‘break the mold’ of post-secondary education, so we are inclusive of all, breaking down barriers that have, in the past, excluded people from accessing further education because of their background, circumstances, or life experiences.” – Dr. Deborah Saucier

Fulbright Canada is grateful for its strong relationship with Vancouver Island University and wants to thank Dr. Deborah Saucier for taking time to share her expertise.

We encourage you to share this public event with members of your network, either directly or via social media. Further, if you have any questions about the event, please contact Alanna Blackie DeMos, Coordinator of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations, at (613) 688-5514 or ablackiedemos@fulbright.ca.
