HNC Circle of Advisors to attend Symposium hosted by the Samuel Centre for Social Connectedness

  • October 22, 2022

The Samuel Centre for Social Connectedness hosts an incredible Global Symposium every two years and this year we are excited to be heading to Toronto, Canada with many of the Fulbright Canada, Honouring Nations Canada (HNC), Circle of Advisors to participate in three days of dialogue and engagement centred around building systems of belonging. The Symposium will be held at the Globe and Mail Centre and features a robust and meaningful program, which is available on the event website

We feel very fortunate to have been invited to attend, but also to share that some the Advisors will be participating in panel discussions throughout the Symposium. Dr. Becky Cook and Cliff Fregin will share their experiences in imagining and building spaces of belonging, creating meaningful dialogue amongst attendees. We will also be holding a fireside chat with Candace Wasacase-Lafferty, HNC Director, and the Circle of Advisors Co-chairs, Lea Nicholas-MacKenzie and Matthew Vickers. This intimate conversation will discuss Innovation in Action and the development of the HNC Fulbright Canada Program. HNC representatives will also lead a discussion titled: “Creating space for Indigenous knowledges and belonging” on the second day of the Symposium.

The Circle of Advisors will also engage in an afternoon of strategic planning, outlining the targets and initiatives needed for an exciting next quarter.
