Description

The Fulbright Canada Scholar Entrepreneurship Award is designed for U.S. scholars aiming to explore the real-world application, commercialization, or broader societal impact of their work.

As part of the Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Initiative, this award enhances the Traditional Fulbright Canada Scholar experience by offering specialized resources and mentorship aimed at helping researchers turn ideas into action, whether through commercialization, policy innovation, or social enterprise development.

This award is ideal for academics whose work intersects with innovation, applied research, or systems-level change. It offers a unique opportunity to develop new collaborations, deepen North American impact, and contribute to entrepreneurial ecosystems in both Canada and the United States.

Benefits

Awardees will benefit from both the academic support of the Fulbright Canada Traditional Scholar Award and the entrepreneurial resources of the FCEI:

  • Entrepreneurial Support: Receive ongoing entrepreneurial guidance from StartupScience.IO, a platform offering structured frameworks, tools, and resources for research-to-venture development and innovation strategy.
  • Accelerator Access: Gain entry to Alacrity Canada’s accelerator program offering mentorship, venture development support, and investor-readiness training.
  • Project Endorsement: Tap into the expertise and networks of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, innovation leaders who can provide endorsement, feedback, or partnership pathways.
  • Applied Research Impact: Focus on turning research into actionable, scalable solutions through commercialization, community-based innovation, policy interventions, or cross-sector collaboration.
Eligibility

U.S. applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree and have innovative ideas with potential for significant social impact.

Applicants must also meet the Fulbright Canada Traditional Scholar Award eligibility criteria.
