Description

The Fulbright Canada Short-term Entrepreneurship Award supports American entrepreneurs at any stage of their business journey, seeking to explore new markets, develop strategic insights, and strengthen cross-border collaboration through a four-week residency in Canada.

Open to scholars, students, professionals, and artists with active entrepreneurial pursuits, this award facilitates the time, space, and resources to pursue independent research, market exploration, or business development activities in a dynamic new environment.

Whether launching a startup, growing a social enterprise, or commercializing research, awardees benefit from tailored support and access to leading entrepreneurial platforms. The award is part of the Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Initiative (FCEI), designed to empower entrepreneurial leaders to build relationships, test ideas, and advance solutions with the potential to generate positive economic and social impact, without the formal expectations of academic learning.

Benefits

Awardees will benefit from both the support of the Fulbright Specialist Program and the entrepreneurial resources of the FCEI:

  • Short-term Residency: Undertake a 4-week residency in the host country.
  • Activities may include:
    • Conducting market or field research
      Exploring commercialization opportunities
      Building institutional or sectoral relationships
Advancing your venture or creative enterprise in the North American market
  • Entrepreneurial Support: Receive ongoing entrepreneurial guidance from StartupScience.IO, a digital platform offering structured entrepreneurial support, expert content, and business-building tools.
  • Accelerator Access: Gain entry to Alacrity Canada’s accelerator program offering startups strategic insight, venture development resources, and mentorship.
  • Project Endorsement: Opportunities to build relationships and expand networks with local entrepreneurs, investors, incubators, and innovation leaders.
  • Practical Application: Encourages the practical application of research findings to develop and commercialize entrepreneurial projects. Use the residency to reflect, test, iterate, or expand your entrepreneurial ideas in a new environment.
