The Fulbright Canada Specialist Entrepreneurship Award is tailored for leading U.S. professionals, scholars, artists, and entrepreneurs with a strong record of innovation and real-world impact. Through short-term, collaborative residencies, participants work with Canadian institutions to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity, support applied innovation, and address strategic challenges in education, nonprofit, economic, and startup sectors.
Host activities may include curriculum design, capacity building, strategic planning, workshop facilitation, accelerator engagement, or ecosystem development.

Eligibility
Applicants must be leading U.S. scholars, professionals, or artists with significant experience in their field and possess innovative ideas with the potential for significant social impact.
Applicants must also meet the Fulbright Specialist Award eligibility criteria.
How to apply
Awards are offered on a continuous basis.
Create an online application for the Fulbright Specialist Program to join the Roster. Applications are accepted throughout the year.
Awardees will benefit from both the short-term project support of the Fulbright Specialist Program and the entrepreneurial resources of the FCEI.
Include a paragraph in your project statement to show your interest in applying for the Fulbright Canada Specialist Entrepreneurship Award.
Entrepreneurship Paragraph Guidelines
- Describe how your proposed project relates to entrepreneurship, innovation, commercialization, or applied research. Explain how your academic work connects to entrepreneurial practice.
- Explain how participation in the FCEI will support you personally and professionally. What do you hope to gain from the entrepreneurial support and global exposure?
- Share how you plan to engage with host institutions, entrepreneurs, innovation hubs, or sector leaders during your residency. This may include field research, networking, exploratory meetings, or preliminary partnership building.
- Identify what entrepreneurial resources or support you would find most useful, e.g., business modeling tools, mentoring, accelerator guidance, investor feedback, or strategy development assistance through StartupScience.IO or Alacrity Canada.
